Generating a UFI

It is up to the supplier of a product, that is the Importer or Formulator, to generate a Unique Formulation Identifier for that product.  Anyone reselling the product should use the same UFI (assuming the mixture has not been altered in any way).

The UFI number format is a mixture of alphabetical and numerical figures in the a 16-figure format, with 4 blocks of numbers or letters separated by hyphens as follows:  XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX .

To generate a number, you need to input information at https://poisoncentres.echa.europa.eu/ufi-generator.  As we have not carried out this procedure, we cannot offer any advice on how the system works at the time of writing (July 2017).
